the album's original mix (isdoes.bandcamp.com/album/own-devices) was compromised in a few ways - loudness-war mastering, misapprehensions about balance (brown noise is *not* the curve to shoot for), and i just didn't have the ear to hear whether what i was doing was working (so lots of 'symbolic' eq and compression that didn't do the job). the remix tries to rebalance the album's sonics and raise fidelity without making creative changes - so (with a couple of exceptions) these are the original recordings and arrangements, but treated more kindly
